Cordyceps militaris

The mushroom of the year 2007 is Cordyceps militaris.

The club-shaped mushroom glows orange-yellow and is only a few centimeters tall. The Cordyceps militaris, in contrast to its conspecific Cordyceps sinensis, grows all over the northern hemisphere, and is also generally easier to cultivate.

The effectiveness of this fungus has already been documented in herbal books that are over 2,000 years old.

Cordycepin is the essential component of Cordyceps militaris, along with the active ingredients ergosterol, mannitol, vitamins and the important polysaccharides.
