Maitake

The maitake also grows in european forests and is valued as an edible mushroom. Its gray-brown, fan-like, overlapping mushroom hats that grow out of the earth like a small bush.

However, its high health value is mainly researched and used in Asia and, more recently, in the USA, where it is also cultivated in large quantities. The Japanese word Maitake means something like "dancing mushroom". According to tradition, when you found it, you performed dances of real joy.

It contains a whole range of biovital substances. The special multi-branched polysaccharide chains found especially in Maitake make it such a capable medicinal mushroom. The high content of ergosterol, the precursor of vitamin D, is particularly remarkable and an important factor for TCM.
